Why An Ultrasound Law ?

Why do We need an Ultrasound law in Georgia? Because it will save lives. The rational is compelling. The best example we have comes from crisis pregnancy centers equipped with ultrasound machines. Some report changed mind ratios as high as 9 of 10! In other words for every 10 abortion minded women coming in for counseling, 9 changed their mind, after seeing their baby on ultrasound. Granted the ratios probably wont be as high in abortion clinics. The motivation of those operating abortion clinics is totally different from those working in crisis pregnancy centers. But still we believe a strong ultrasound law is absolutely crucial!

How many women will change their minds if we get this new law? We don't know for sure but we do know there were approximately 38,000 abortions reported in Georgia last year. So if 5 of 10 women change their minds that's 19,000 saved lives! If the ratio is 1 of 10 then that's 3,800 saved lives.

Scott,
I agree an Ultrasound bill "could" save lives. Due to the fact that women that have appts. are just in a mentally different state of mind, I don't think the #'s that change their mind will be as dramatic as we would hope. Over the almost 11 years that I've been counseling abortion bound women I've noticed a dramatic hardening of their hearts. Women who see the pictures of what abortion will do to their child responding" Ya and so what?" Most pregant women know it is not just a blog of tissue but it is a baby. Life has been degrading to the point that many tell me "SO WHAT" to the graphic photos of aborted babies!

I do hope that the Reps. who wrote the bill took out the loop hole that allows for facilities that "don't have an ultrasound machine" to get a referrel to go somewhere else to have one prior to the abortion. This is a BIG LOOP hole and is the hole the abortion lawyers need to keep the bill from being enforced. Simialiar to the loop holes in the Women's Right to Know bill which is virtually ineffective for many reasons. One main reason first off, is that it is not able to be enforced, the second it that there are too many loop holes in it which allow the clinics to simply read a paragraph to the patient on the phone about resources and websites to obtain information from.

I think we need to work to contact the sponsor of the bill to make sure that before it goes to committee it does not contain a single loop hole. Every clinic or facility that performs abortions HAS GOT TO HAVE AN ULTRASOUND MACHINE. According the top Abortions who speak around the country and documents found right here at the Georgia DHR, the ultrasound is the MOST IMPORTANT part of the abortion procedure. This is because it tells the Abortionist for sure how big the baby is and which abortion procedure will be used.

Due to the inability that the state has to enforce ANY abortion regulation I am much more in favor of a bill to ban it all together in Georgia. Until this problem is fixed any legislation that is passed is just a lot of fluff in my opinion.

In the meantime what can we do as Christians? You can make a difference, come out to the killing centers and display the graphic photos of abortion, and pray for a change of heart in the mothers and fathers, you will educate the public and probably help save the life of at least one of God's children scheduled to die that day.Unfortunately, it isn't going to be so easy for us to just pass legislation to save lives from abortion. I believe that God wants and desires His people to feel and act as if stopping the shedding of innocent blood was an important part of our faith. Try to see this from His view point. It is time for His People Called by His name to act like Christians, stop the apathy you can help stop the shedding of innocent blood. So many of us are so apathetic we won't even put a prolife bumper sticker on our car, we care more about the looks of our car then the shedding of innoncent blood. For anyone that wants to get a prolife bumper sticker contact me. Together we can make a difference but it will take sacrifice!
For Life,
